Original Article By Elise Minton Just this morning it was announced that aesthetics giant Allergan (you probably know it as the brand behind Botox Cosmetic, Juvéderm and Latisse) will be adding another beauty-centric company to its portfolio: Zeltiq Aesthetics, the fat-reducing brand that uses the power of freezing fat in its CoolSculpting device.
The sale is slated for about $2.48 billion and is strictly for the CoolSculpting device. It's the latest in a list of companies that Allergan has been acquiring.
"By adding the best-in-class body contouring CoolSculpting System to our best-in-class facial aesthetics, plastic surgery and regenerative medicine offerings, we are creating a world-class aesthetics business," Allergan CEO Brent Saunders said in a statement. "With CoolSculpting, our offerings to plastic surgeons, dermatologists and aesthetic practitioners will now extend to three of the largest and fastest-growing segments of their practices, putting Allergan in a unique position to provide expanded customer service, and help meet the needs of patients."
